If you chose a username and password in Raspberry Pi Imager settings, before writing the microSD card, you will get the desktop on first boot. Using the Raspberry Pi First-Time Setup WIzard If you had used the Raspberry Pi Imager settings to create a username and password, you'll be able to go straight into the desktop environment, but if not, you will get a setup wizard. The Raspberry Pi has no internal storage, but instead boots off of a a microSD memory card that you provide. However, Raspberry Pi OS, a special version of Debian Linux that's optimized for the Pi, is the best platform for most use cases so that's the one we'll be explaining how to set up. There are more than a dozen different OSes for Raspberry Pi, and there's even a way to run full Windows 11 on the Pi 4. However, to avoid data loss, you'll want to use the shutdown feature in your operating system (OS) before unplugging or switching it off. You can also find power supplies with built-in on / off switches. ![]() The Pi doesn't have a built-in power switch, so the default way to turn it on is to plug it in. On PCs you can go quite a bit higher than that default without hitting the sound problem.There are a number of power supplies that are made specifically for Raspberry Pis, including the official Raspberry Pi 4 power supply and the CanaKit 5V 2.5A supply for other Raspberry Pi models. On PCs I think the default is something like 3000 or 6000, which is quite low but the game still runs fine even on such a setting. Nevertheless, if your configuration has CPU Cycle set to a high value, maybe try lowering it and see if it might help. I don't think that's the problem here though since you said the same nf file doesn't repro the problem depending on the setup. One thing worth mentioning is that even on DOSBox on PCs, IIRC at least on some versions (not sure about current versions), setting the CPU Cycle setting too high or to "max" could interfere with the game's sound hardware detection programming resulting in no sound. ![]() It makes sense that there could be emulation bugs affecting one but not the other. It makes sense that there would be a difference between Lemmings 2 and pre-Lemmings 2, as the pre-Lemmings 2 DOS games only uses the OPL2 FM synthesis features for sound and music, whereas Lemmings 2 uses other, more advanced SoundBlaster features for sound and music IIRC, at least on the default settings. Based on what you've said it sounds like a DOSBox emulation bug specific to that hardware/platform/port. Hmm, first time we've even heard anyone here trying to run DOSBox on Raspberry Pi, IIRC.
